Welcome!

Welcome to blarneystar.com. We borrowed the site name from the Blarney Star bar, owned and operated by Tony Brady for many years on Murray Street in downtown Manhattan. Friday night concerts of Irish traditional music took place in the Blarney Star's basement for a decade that spanned the turn of this century. The bar, alas, is no more, but there's still plenty of good Irish music in New York City, including the monthly "Blarney Star" concerts hosted during the school year by Glucksman Ireland House at New York University and the weekly Monday night sessions at the Landmark Tavern on Eleventh Avenue at 46th Street in midtown Manhattan. Click on the Ireland House and Landmark Tavern links above for more info on the concerts and sessions. You can also check out "Links and Stuff" to go to other Irish music sites of interest or view our growing collection of memorabilia, ephemera and photos. Click on "articles" to read some of Blarney Star producer Don Meade's writing on Irish music and dance.
